Vaughan, August 3rd 2023- Hospice Vaughan, a non-profit organization dedicated to providing compassionate support to individuals facing life-limiting illnesses, their caregivers, and individuals experiencing the loss of a loved one, is thrilled to announce a successful summer of fundraising, raising over $113,000 in just two months with the support of the community.

The remarkable fundraising effort began with the much-anticipated, Hike for Hospice Vaughan, which took place on June 4th at the picturesque Sonoma Heights Park. The community rallied together, united by their shared passion for supporting end-of-life care, resulting in a staggering $86,000 being raised during the event.

Following the resounding success of the Hike, Hospice Vaughan held a charity golf tournament at the beautiful Caledon Woods Golf Club on July 11th. The golf tournament proved to be yet another triumph, generating an impressive $27,000 in support of the organization’s vital initiatives.

Through the support of the community and dozens of amazing volunteers, Hospice Vaughan works to ensure that their compassionate support, abundant community programs and services, and in-house residence remain accessible to those in need at no charge. Every dollar raised makes a tangible difference in the lives of individuals living with life-limiting illnesses, their dedicated caregivers, and those coping with grief and bereavement.

“Our mission is to provide a safe and nurturing environment where individuals and families can find physical, emotional, and spiritual support during challenging times,” said Leigh Godbold, Director of Fund Development & Communications at Hospice Vaughan. “We rely on the generosity and solidarity of our community to continue offering our support services, including our residence, entirely free of charge.”

Supporting hospice care is vital because it provides compassionate, personalized, and dignified end-of-life care to patients and their families during one of life’s most challenging moments. Through providing a compassionate and caring environment, Hospice Vaughan offers support, and emotional solace to those navigating life’s final journey, while also offering respite to their families and loved ones, allowing families to focus on just being a family.
