Hospice Vaughan Celebrates Naming of New Research Institute
Vaughan, ON – Wednesday, May 22, 2019 – Today at Hospice Vaughan, the Hospice Vaughan Board of Directors, Staff and Volunteers, Community Ambassadors together with Honorary Chair of Hospice Vaughan’s Capital Campaign, Mayor Maurizio Bevilacqua, held a special event to honour the naming donors of the new Hospice Vaughan Institute. As previously announced at the Vaughan Chamber Annual Mayor’s Luncheon on February 13, 2019, we joined in celebrating the generosity of David Braley, Ginesia Cortellucci, Joseph and Anna Cortellucci and Family, and Luciano and Rosa Vigliatore and Family, in extending to Hospice Vaughan a donation of $1.3 million making the new Hospice Vaughan Institute possible.
The new Hospice Vaughan Institute will be named the “Pristine Homes Institute for Hospice Palliative Care.”
As local business leaders and philanthropists, David Braley, Ginesia Cortellucci, Joseph and Anna Cortellucci and Family, and Luciano and Rosa Vigliatore and Family, understand the need to foster continuing research and education for the advancement of hospice palliative care. Their support of Hospice Vaughan is a testament to their visionary leadership and commitment to community giving.
First of its kind in Vaughan, the Pristine Homes Institute for Hospice Palliative Care will identify and cultivate partnerships with academic institutions, community agencies and healthcare professionals to establish research and education opportunities, evidence-based tools, and knowledge translation of palliative care best practices that will positively impact healthcare in Ontario and beyond.
Our goal is to open the expanded Hospice Vaughan facility, The Mario & Nick Cortellucci Hospice Palliative Care Centre of Excellence, by late spring 2020, which will be home to the Pristine Homes Institute for Hospice Palliative Care. This incredible donation has enabled the “Better Ending” Capital Campaign to realize its goal.
We do, however, continue to invite donations and volunteer supports to help the organization meet growing needs for quality and timely hospice palliative care.
“Today’s announcement represents another step forward in our mission to bring state-of-the-art palliative healthcare services right here to the City of Vaughan. The Pristine Homes Institute for Hospice Palliative Care is a transformational initiative that represents our city coming of age. This project has been made possible through the help of believers – individuals who represent the highest values humanity has to offer and who recognize that their contribution has the power to change lives and shape communities. We are fortunate to have a group of enlightened corporate leaders who play an important role in our city’s success. I want to express my sincere gratitude to David Braley, Ginesia Cortellucci, Joseph and Anna Cortellucci and family, and Luciano and Rosa Vigliatore and family for their meaningful gift that will have a lasting impact in Vaughan, and beyond, for generations.”
- Mayor Maurizio Bevilacqua, P.C., Honorary Chair, Hospice Vaughan Better Ending Campaign
“Together, we are proud to support Hospice Vaughan’s role in transforming palliative care services for the citizens of Vaughan. As an organization they often go unacknowledged for their contributions, yet every day they provide a compassionate and dignified environment for individuals and their loved ones. The new state-of- the-art facility will have a deep and meaningful impact on the Vaughan community. We encourage others to lend their support as a community only strengthens when we give a helping hand.“
- Romina Cortellucci on behalf of Institute Donor Group

The Pristine Homes Institute for Hospice Palliative Care will conduct world-class research and academic training opportunities targeted towards innovative hospice palliative care interventions that contribute to thriving communities in Ontario, nationally and internationally.”
