VIRTUAL MEDITATION & STRETCHING
May 11 @ 2:00 pm - 2:45 pm
This class will focus on the practice of pranayama. This is a Sanskrit word and is usually translated as, “Science of Breath”. Literally, “prana” means vital energy and “ayama” means control. Pranayama has the ability to restore, revitalize and reenergize the entire body. This is done through conscious breathing which lowers blood pressure, as well as the amount of the stress hormone cortisol, that is present in the body. A short-term practice of regular pranayama and meditation techniques provides a significant reduction in resting pulse rate, systolic, diastolic and mean arterial blood pressure. Extended pranayama can lead to a sustained lower heart rate.
To participate in this virtual class, all you need is a comfortable chair, a quiet space and 2-3 blankets or towels.
