HOSPICE VAUGHAN OPENS OUR NEW HEALTH CARE FACILITY:
OUR GROWING LEGACY CONTINUES TO SERVE THE COMMUNITY OF VAUGHAN
VAUGHAN, JUNE 24, 2021 – Hospice Vaughan – Mario & Nick Cortellucci Hospice Palliative Care Centre of Excellence is now open at 9383 Islington Avenue. This new state of the art health care facility and hub for palliative care is the first of its kind in the City of Vaughan. Today is a milestone for the staff, volunteers, donors, elected officials and community partners of Hospice Vaughan.
The 10-bed hospice residence provides holistic care to individuals nearing the end of their lives in a comfortable and home-like setting, where they can be close to loved ones. “In this environment, family and friends can have peace of mind knowing that their loved ones will be given access to appropriate end-of-life care,” says Belinda Marchese, Executive Director, Hospice Vaughan. “Hospice Vaughan’s new palliative care hub will serve over 500 individuals in the community and 200 in our residence while impacting the lives of more than 3,500 community members annually. The care focuses on relieving suffering and providing services like mental health, psychosocial, spiritual, grief and bereavement supports. We are forever grateful to the Toronto & Region Conservation Authority for this beautiful, tranquil land that our dream has become a reality on.”

Since 1995, Hospice Vaughan, a not-for-profit organization, has been providing compassionate support to individuals facing a life-limiting illness, their families and caregivers or those who have experienced the loss of a loved one. Our new hub for palliative care will enable the expansion of existing programs and services that include in-home supports, day programs, grief and bereavement support, counselling and wellness services as well as children’s support.
