Hospice Vaughan Announces 4 New Board Members
The Board of Directors of Hospice Vaughan is pleased to announce that Dina Palozzi, Fire Chief Deryn Rizzi, Teresa Marando and Adriano Tommasino, were officially elected to the Board at the Annual General Meeting held Wednesday, Sept. 26, 2018. In addition, Renata Rizzardi was re-elected for an additional term and Susan Paterino was appointed to fill a mid-term vacancy.
St. Padre Pio Catholic Elementary School Raises $7K for Hospice Vaughan
Last school year, the Student Leadership Committee at St. Padre Pio Catholic Elementary School comprised of Grade 6, 7 and 8 students took action and raised funds for Hospice Vaughan a local non-profit that provides compassionate support to individuals and their families facing a life-limiting illness or the loss of a loved one. The students raised funds throughout the school year through their Christmas concert and other fundraisers, as well as being supported by various Catholic School Council events. The Student Leadership Committee at St. Padre Pio Catholic Elementary School presented Hospice Vaughan with a cheque for $7,000!
Cortellucci Family Donates $3 Million for the Naming of the New Hospice Vaughan
At a special ceremony held today at Vaughan City Hall, Hospice Vaughan, along with Mayor Maurizio Bevilacqua, Honorary Chair of Hospice Vaughan’s Capital Campaign unveiled the Cortellucci Family as the naming donor of its new Centre of Excellence 10-bed Residential Hospice facility. Mario and Nick Cortellucci have generously stepped forward with a $3 million donation towards the building of the new facility, which will be called Hospice Vaughan – The Mario & Nick Cortellucci Hospice Palliative Care Centre of Excellence.

A Better Ending in Sight for Vaughan Residents
Hospice Vaughan Breaks Ground on its 10-bed Residential Hospice and Palliative Care Centre of Excellence. Today, construction began on the new Hospice Vaughan, a 25,000 square foot facility that will bring compassionate care to individuals and families dealing with serious illness and grief.
Dr. Vincent Maida Named Medical Director of Hospice Vaughan
Hospice Vaughan is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Vincent Maida as the Medical Director of their soon-to-be-built 10-bed residential facility and Centre of Excellence for Hospice and Palliative Care. “I am honoured and thrilled to be taking on this role at the new Hospice Vaughan facility which will allow us to rise to the challenge of meeting our community’s growing needs by tending to the whole person and their loved ones, and by leveraging education, research and training so all can have a healthier approach to death and dying.“ – Dr. Maida.
Government of Canada improves accessibility for Canadians with disabilities in Vaughan
Today, Francesco Sorbara, Member of Parliament for Vaughan-Woodbridge, on behalf of the Honourable Kirsty Duncan, Minister of Science and Minister of Sport and Persons with Disabilities, announced that Hospice Vaughan in the City of Vaughan has received $50,000 of financial support through the Enabling Accessibility Fund (EAF) to fund the construction of an essential elevator at the Centre of Excellence Residential Hospice, ultimately improving accessibility for Canadians with disabilities.

Melissa Martelli Makes $125K Donation to Hospice Vaughan in Loving Memory of Her Husband Joe Martelli
In February 2014, just three weeks after the birth of their daughter, Melissa’s husband Joe was diagnosed with an inoperable brain tumour. As the primary caregiver for her husband and their two children, Melissa tried her best to keep a positive attitude, but she was slowly unravelling. Feeling overwhelmed and scared, she realized that she could no longer do it alone. “That’s when I received a call from Hospice Vaughan, asking if I needed any help,” Melissa recalls.
